A very youthful looking Atletico earned a credible narrow defeat away to Midland Premier
Loughborough University in the Leicestershire Challenge Cup.
With 5 Under 18 players making their debut on the night, Jaydn Kettle, Luke Newton, Will Dunlop,
Riley Bryant and Bobby Hextall, it was always going to be a learning curve against a reputable
footballing side such as Loughborough Uni, but the team was never out of their depth even
if the Uni were the better side on the night. In fact AFC took a shock early lead with Joe
McLaughlin heading Hinckley's opener in the 6th minute. The Uni hit back in the second half with
two excellent goals, first from Dan Hanson as he fired from the edge of the box through a crowd
of players and the ball crept inside the post as Jacob Wood couldn't get enough on the ball to
keep it out. Then player of the match scored the goal of the night as Jeremiah Dasaolu received
the ball with his back to goal on the left edge of the penalty area, quickly turned past one
defender, took the ball past a second then blasted the ball into the top right corner of the net
from 12 yards Wood having no chance to stop it.
