Hinckley AFC 5 - 1 Southam United
Atletico finished the season in style as goals from Justin Nisbett, Dom Smith, Marco Adaggio and JJ Melligan lift the club into 3rd place of the league.

AFC had turned around an incredible 8 goal difference, scoring 10 goals in their final two matches, needing to win against Southam by 4 clear goals, to over take Bolehall and finish the season in 3rd place of the Midland Division One, separated only by amount of goals scored.

Due to poor scheduling from the Midland League, Bolehall had finished their season midweek and Atletico knew exactly what was required from the start, and so shot out of the blocks from the off. Two early goals made it look like they would reach their target with ease, first Rob Millington did well to hold the ball in midfield and then play in Justin Nisbett on the right, who came into the area and fired goalwards, the ball being helped past the keeper by a deflection off Lee Thomas. Then on the quarter hour mark, a Nathan Walker short corner was crossed pinpoint to the far post for Dominic Smith to power into the net with his head. With Hinckley looking like cruising the rest of the game, Southam caught out the defence on a break away. Thomas making up for his earlier deflection, ran down the left wing and made it as far as the area before he was brought down and Southam were awarded a clear penalty. Louis Bridges stepped up and gave Sam Arnold no chance from the penalty spot. However, this revitalised Hinckley and Marco Adaggio restored the two goal lead just before half time with a superb solo goal. Receiving the ball in midfield he battled to the edge of the area where he seemed to be blocked, and holding the ball up with his back to goal, everybody expecting a pass, he turned and curled the ball into the top corner beautifully.

Come the second half, and Hinckley did begin to cruise. Good work from Millington and then Nisbett on the right, presented the ball on a plate for Adaggio to blast into the net, extending the gap to 3 goals. Sensing the 4 goal win needed, Hinckley pushed forward and kept the Southam goal under extended pressure. Walker had a long range effort saved, and Milligton couldn't finish with power after running from midfield. With time running out, the man who scored Hinckley's first goal of the season, was in the right place to score their last. Millington again did well in midfield, brought the ball in the area and fired goalwards. Tom Cross could only parry the ball, that landed at the feet of JJ Melligan and he took the ball round the keeper slotting into the empty net, scoring Hinckley's fifth and more importantly giving AFC the 4 goal victory needed to finish in third place. This would be the 23rd league win of the season and means the league unbeaten run stands at 26 games and continues into next season.
