Hinckley registered their second successive draw over the Eostre weekend, but would
be disappointed to put in a lacklustre performance against their landlords, who themselves
created enough chances to win the game.
With a depleted squad due to availability, the match had a 'pre season friendly' feel
about it, which would be a disappointment for the record crowd of 321 who had turned up to
witness the local derby. They did however see some good individual goals for AFC, first from
Ross Clarke who opened the scoring on 10 minutes, unleashing a shot into the top corner
from 25 yards out. St Johns equalised on the half hour when Kiam Gladins headed in unmarked
at the back post from a John Snape corner. Luke Richards gave Atletico the lead again in
the second half with a superb solo run from the half way line, down the left flank, past 3
Heather players, then came inside and slotted under Scott Handley from the corner of the
penalty area. Though Richards great work was again undone by some lazy defending from Hinckley
when 10 minutes from time, Muldoon managed to force the ball across Hinckley's area and
Snape simply tapped the ball into the net at the back post.
Hinckley's unbeaten run now stretches to 26 games, but wins in both the final two matches
away at Studley and home to Southam are a must if Atletico want to hold on to fourth place
in the league, and the coveted FA cup spot for next season.
